Win An iPad by Tweeting

Promote our website in a tweet and the best example will win an iPad. Make it funny, factual, wacky or in anyway you see fit.

Here at studentphones, we should be embracing modern social media like the celebrity folk, but we struggle to say everything we want in just 160 characters. We need a helping hand tweeting and would like your inspiration.

To enter, simply follow @studentphones and then get tweeting. Do it once, twice, or as many times as you want. Simply promote studentphones using the tag @studentphones. We will be watching and monitoring all entries with interest.

Some hints to help you write a winning tweet:
- Identify our strengths. For example, why are we not like normal mobile phone shops for instance?
- Do students realise they might need a short term broadband contract for their digs? Sometimes, educating the audience can more valuable.
- Make the tweet relevant to a wide audience. So don't say "Nokia 123 is only £15 per month at @studentphones" as you'll just disappoint your audiences.
- You don't just have tweet text. Try images, page links any other sources.

Competition Rules

The competition opens on 21st February 2012.
Entries can be made by individuals or organisations resident in the UK.
The winning entry must not be a retweet or from a person known to or associated with studentphones.
Only tweets including the tag @studentphones will be considered and tweets not likely to cause offence or in breach of copyright.
StudentPhones will select their favourite tweets and will invite votes from website visitors to determine the winner.
The winner will be notified through twitter and must respond within 10 days to claim and collect their prize.
The prize is a New Apple iPad2 Wifi 16GB (in a choice of white or black) and will be delivered to a UK address by recorded delivery.
All participants agree to studentphones using and repeating their tweets for commercial purposes and that no tweets will be subject to copyright. Furthermore, participants consent to studentphones placing the tweet and username of the shortlisted entries into a public poll for voting purposes.
The competition will close on 1st October 2012 or when in excess of 5,000 tweets using the tag @studentphones have been placed on twitter (whichever comes last).
The prize will be distributed within 14 days of winner being able to confirm their identify, proof of address and proof of twitter account ownership.
There is no cash alternative.

Virgin Mobile offer 15% student discount

Virgin Mobile are currently providing students with 15% off their total spend. You will need an NUS card to apply. Not a bad offer, but you need to buy direct from Virgin (which isn't always the cheapest) and they don't sell iPhones.

If you've only got a 6 month tenancy, then make sure you have a short term broadband contract. PlusNet allow you cancel with just 10 days notice. See their website for details.

Wow. Even Vodafone are enticing students!

Vodafone are currently offering students 10% off their line rental charges (not 10% off the total bill). To take advantage, simply take your NUS card to a vodafone store when buying your next mobile.

BUT - going direct to the network is often more expensive. Below are some vodafone deals provided by the UK's retailers. You will see that many offer cash back deals that you are unlikely to get from Vodafone.

Most students are given a 'pay-as-you-go' phone by their parents. Why? Because they don't you raking up a huge bill on a contract. Pay-as-you-go deals are often very expensive. Why not consider a Tesco Mobile instead? You get the joys of a contract (cheap calls, texts and internet) but you or your parents can cap the bill.
