Virgin Mobile are currently providing students with 15% off their total spend. You will need an NUS card to apply. Not a bad offer, but you need to buy direct from Virgin (which isn't always the cheapest) and they don't sell iPhones.

If you've only got a 6 month tenancy, then make sure you have a short term broadband contract. PlusNet allow you cancel with just 10 days notice. See their website for details.

Vodafone are currently offering students 10% off their line rental charges (not 10% off the total bill). To take advantage, simply take your NUS card to a vodafone store when buying your next mobile.

BUT - going direct to the network is often more expensive. Below are some vodafone deals provided by the UK's retailers. You will see that many offer cash back deals that you are unlikely to get from Vodafone.

Most students are given a 'pay-as-you-go' phone by their parents. Why? Because they don't you raking up a huge bill on a contract. Pay-as-you-go deals are often very expensive. Why not consider a Tesco Mobile instead? You get the joys of a contract (cheap calls, texts and internet) but you or your parents can cap the bill.
